The Sand Pebbles a 1966 film starring Steve McQueen and Candice Bergen has been listed at the 11 best travel movie in English.

Hello,

I discovered the film "The Sand Pebbles," and have listed this film as number 11 of the all time best travel movies in English. Being listed as number 11 will change, this best travel movie list continually evolves as I review travel related movies.

Please click on "Home" above to see current list of Best Travel Movies, and the current status of the movie "The Sand Pebbles."

The Sand Pebbles

Why listed as one of the best travel movies?
There are 50 industrialized nations, mainly the USA, Europe, Australia and Japan, these countries travel to the 200 countries below them, normally farming countries.

This movie accurately explains the opinions of the rich, and how they with missionaries view the non-50 top countries.

This movie centers around China, and uses the colonization, language, and radical cultural differences for intellectual clarification to the viewer.

As a world traveler who travels randomly between the upper rich 50, and the lower 200, it become more clear each year, that neither group understands the other, yet the 50 want to say the lower 200 are not culturally adequate.

Thank you.

The Sand Pebbles - The Sand Pebbles is a 1966 American period war film directed by Robert Wise. It tells the story of an independent, rebellious U.S. Navy Machinist's Mate aboard the fictional gunboat USS San Pablo in 1920s China. The Sand Pebbles features Steve McQueen, Richard Attenborough, Richard Crenna, Candice Bergen.

The military life of the San Pablo's crew, the titular sand pebbles, portrays the era's racism and colonialism on a small scale, through the sailors' relations with the coolies who run their gunboat and the bargirls who serve them off-duty, as well as on a large scale, with the West's gunboat diplomacy domination of China.

A friend of mine sent me a link to some sites that show old and new movies and tv shows, so I did a search and sure enough they had that movie! I enjoyed it even though it was rather long 3hrs+ especially when Steve McQueen put the axe to that slopeheadâ??s gut! Thanks Gadget!
